Lexington, SC — 2027 Home Services Marketing Outlook

Lake Murray growth, newer subdivisions and the outdoor-living work that comes with both.

1 min read
A newly built house with bare young planting in Lexington, SC, new ducting and a coil of copper by an open side door.

Lexington has been the growth story of the Columbia market for years. The housing is newer, the lots are larger than in the city, and Lake Murray sits at the edge of it, which shapes both what people buy and how they spend their weekends.

The work follows from that. Outdoor living, pools, patios, docks and screened porches, plus the upgrade cycle that newer subdivisions produce as builder-grade materials reach the end of their first life. It is highly visible work — the kind neighbors ask about — and almost none of it gets photographed properly.

Lake-adjacent work brings its own permitting and its own constraints, and it is worth being explicit about which you handle. South Carolina licenses residential builders and registers specialty contractors through the Residential Builders Commission, with a five-thousand-dollar threshold for builders and five hundred for specialty work. The number belongs on your advertising.
